They Are Family

 When I got the goslings, I wasn't sure that the adult Embden geese would attack them or adopt them.  I am happy to report that they have formed a tight little family.  The Embden are always with the little ones and are parenting them as if they were their own.

The other day the large male gosling hurt his leg.  The Embden goose stayed right next to him all afternoon.  The next day I put the gosling in a pen so that he would not be walking on his sore leg.  Mom and Pop goose kept the entire family right next to the pen all day long.  It kept the injured gosling calm, and I'm sure it helped with his healing.
